Taking a Walk on the Wild Side

White Pine Wildlife Rehabilitation is a local organization made up of many dedicated individuals who devote their time to helping orphaned and injured wildlife. Since 1990 White Pine Rehab has rescued and released hundreds of animals every year. Some of the wild animals that come to White Pine are in need of expert care from a veterinarian. Dr. Arntson, along with other area veterinarians, are sometimes called upon to provide this professional care. Thanks to the White Pine organization we have seen and treated quite a variety of wild critters, but most frequently we see some of the injured wild birds that have been rescued by White Pine.

 Owl Loon Baby Great-Horned Owl

People often see baby animals that they believe have been abandoned by the mother. Often this is not the case since wild animals often protect their young by staying away from the baby. A baby may appear abandoned when the mother is actually nearby watching and waiting for you to leave. Please leave baby animals alone unless you are certain that something has happened to the parents. If you do find a true orphaned baby or any animal that is injured, please contact White Pine Wildlife Rehab as soon as possible. They can be reached at (715) 877-2372. If you discover an injured animal you can also call the clinic (834-9201) or bring the animal to us. We will immediately contact White Pine for you.
